Actually, it would be more accurate to say this is for Kane (one of the Lords of the Underworld). The humorous nature of poor old Eric's mishaps are in a similar vein to Kane - so much so that he's probably always blamed unnecessarily when things go wrong. Although I'm sure being centuries old means two things:

1. he's already seen this sketch
2. he's the inspiration those Python chaps used for this sketch - they were probably buddies
